I am off to France for two weeks this year. The first week at my parents’ home near Lyon where I have many happy memories over the years, and the second week at Ile de Ré on the West Coast which will be my first visit. I am really looking forward to both!
What is your ‘must-have’ item to pack in your suitcase?
A bottle of Chapel Down Brut. I love sharing our wines with uninitiated friends in France and watching the rictus grin melt in to a smile of genuine surprise and delight!
Where is your favourite al fresco drinking/dining spot?
Sunset on the coast is hard to beat. I’m confident Ile de Ré will offer up some decent spots!

Have you ever had a ‘lightbulb’ moment related to your business or career while taking some downtime?
My mind quickly wanders to new drinks we can create at our brewery, winery and distillery. And having time to think and reflect allows me to sift out the decent ones by the end of the holiday!
