The Walpole Power List 2020 The Custodians: Bernie de Le Cuona, Founder & CEO, de Le Cuona

Bernie de Le Cuona is the founder and CEO of de Le Cuona, a purveyor of fine textiles for interiors, with a 27-year history. Bernie is a fabric expert who interior designers, fashion houses and historical bodies all turn to when a textile specialist is called for. She is unique, being at the helm of the design and business operations. With her vision this global brand is a trailblazer of sustainability. Pure is an industry first, the ultimate collection of 100% organic linen certified to GOTS, for those who are pursuing wellness and looking to invest in a healthy lifestyle.

What does it mean to you to be named a Walpole 2020 Power List winner?

To be named on the Power List is such an honour, and an acknowledgement of my team, the artisans, the craftspeople, and of myself, for the 27 years of dedication to innovation; for aspiring to achieve and maintain the intangible pinnacle of luxury in every aspect of what de Le Cuona does.

Why do you think you were named on the List this year?

I believe I have been named for the contribution and innovation that de Le Cuona has made to sustainable textiles. Stone washing and embossing linen, experimenting with fibre combinations, handcrafting couture cloths and this year launching Pure the first 100% organic linen interior collection certified to GOTS. The past 27 years have been an accomplishment and an adventure, and we continue to learn and constantly develop. I believe organic for our industry is just in its infancy.
