In a world where we’re always available, how do you separate your personal time from your work time?
Stephen Einhorn: With great difficulty! Jane (my wife and Co-Founder) and I try very hard not to talk about work at home, but it’s a bit of an obsession. We are always telling each other off for talking about it. We try to have a rule that we don’t talk about anything other than fun things after 7pm, but it's hard!
What’s one thing you do after the work day to help you unwind?
I take our dog Olive out for a walk. It’s a great way to clear my head after a busy day. I’ve met more of my neighbours since I’ve had her than I have living in Islington for over 30 years. I’ve met some very interesting people – she’s introduced us to a whole new world.
What activity do you do in your time away from the office that helps you relax and recentre after a stressful week?
I play tennis. I absolutely love it and I play as much as I can. The club I’m a member of now has floodlights, so I can play all winter as long as it's not too icy. I would have loved to be a professional tennis player, but I started playing about 30 years too late. What I lack in skill I make up for with enthusiasm!
What’s something you’ve read, listened to or seen in your spare time that’s helped you at work?
Listening to BBC World Service. The science, arts and news programmes are fantastic: inspiring and informative at the same time. I’m interested in everything.
After home and the office, where’s your favourite third space?
Our friends’ house in Suffolk, near the sea – it's the place I feel most at home in, after my own home. Whenever we are invited, we go (and we try to get invited a lot!).
On Sunday night, how do you prepare yourself for the week ahead?
I pretend it's not happening!
Best reason you've had to turn your out of office on recently?
It's got to be holidays. We recently took our grandchildren for a week to Suffolk. It was brilliant fun, especially when Jane locked us out of our rental and I had to borrow a ladder so I coudld climb through the bedroom window to get back in. The kids thought that was the most exciting part of the holiday.
Your go-to Out of Office outfit: Tennis clothes.
Your happy place anywhere in the world: The East Anglian Fens.
Your favourite bar or restaurant: The American Bar at The Savoy (I order a rum Manhattan).
Something cultural or sporting you booked recently that you'd recommend: A squash court at the Britannia Leisure Centre with a friend. For anyone who loves racquet sports, this is such good fun.
Something you've listened to or read recently that you'd recommend: All of Walter Mosely's books. He’s a brilliant writer and also a really great social commentator. I particularly like the Easy Rawlins series. He allows his protagonist to grow older and mellow a bit, but to still stay vital. Who doesn’t want to be like that?
A hobby you'd like to cultivate: I would like to improve my Italian.
A luxury that’s actually a necessity: Alcohol
Best luxury under £25: Green and Black's Organic Intense dark chocolate.
