A Summer of Luxury Holiday with... Emma Parfitt, Director of Marketing Communications, The Savoy

Where will you be holidaying this year – and why?

I went to Nérac, Bordeaux in July. A perfect family holiday break in a gorgeous house with a pool and nothing to do except just be together (mostly eating and drinking). I do have a 4 year old son though so my days of lying by the pool are over. More eight hours a day in the pool being squirted with a super-soaker.

What is your ‘must-have’ item to pack in your suitcase?

An ipad loaded with multiple episodes of Peppa Pig for aforementioned 4 year old.

Where is your favourite al fresco drinking/dining spot?

My mum and step-dad live in a picture perfect village in the Surrey Hills and sitting out in the garden with them and an Aperol Spritz on a warm evening is perfection.

What is your holiday read this year?

You will be Safe Here by Damian Barr. An incredible novel by our literary ambassador here at The Savoy. Make sure you’re comfortable with crying in public if you’re going to read it on the train!

Have you ever had a ‘lightbulb’ moment related to your business or career while taking some downtime?

I’m a big believer in switching off from work when on holiday. ‘Out of the office’ for me and my team means exactly that. It’s the only way to come back refreshed and raring to go. And that’s when the lightbulb moments will happen!

The Savoy is celebrating its 130 year anniversary on social media with a campaign to celebrate their staff and showcase The Savoy’s commitment to 'Exceptional Service Untouched by Time'.
