The Game Fair

According to The Times, “The Game Fair is — the biggest, tweediest, most exotically be-hatted and sweatered, bearded and bewhiskered, horse-trotted and falcon-called, gundog-whistled and fly-cast, Tannoyed and adjudicated clan gathering in the country-lover’s calendar” whilst the Telegraph refer to the much loved  event as “Glastonbury for the Green Welly Brigade.”  Across 6 decades The Game Fair has now welcomed more than 5 million visitors to see what HRH Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh described as: “The most important shop window of our countryside,”  and what a shop window it is – combining serious debate, sporting excellence and more than 800 exhibitors displaying everything from chutney to Bentleys.  If you have a few hours this July, point the helicopter towards Stratford Upon Avon and look for the large ‘H’ on the lawns of Ragley Hall, Warwickshire:- the Marquess of Hertford will be there along with 120,000 likeminded friends.

Expect a world class showcase of falconry sponsored by Emirates Falconers’ Club, pop in to see Celebrity Chef James Martin cooking delights in the VIP Enclosure restaurant, take a drink at Guy Ritchie’s bar – ‘Gritchies’ or chat to the Yorkshire Shepherdess Amanda Owen as she reveals how to feed nine children ready for a day’s work on the farm.  After a busy day shopping, flop back to your glamping pod or take in a film at the open air cinema.
